Literature you'll love!
Prepare for an epic adventure of the literary kind. Before the award-winning movies, there was the book. J.R.R. Tolkien introduced the world to Middle-earth over fifty years ago, and the world has never been quite the same. The Lord of the Rings has become a cultural icon of the modern age. In an Amazon.com poll, readers chose it as the best Book of the Millennium! The Lord of the Rings has not only delighted readers for years, but has sparked the imagination of thousands of writers, artists, musicians, and filmmakers. Its impact on the world will not be soon forgotten. However, this story did not really even begin in the imagination of a talented Oxford professor. It began in older tales of adventure, which fueled that imagination and stirred the soul of an avid student of ancient literature. The Lord of the Rings drew many of its characters, themes, and adventures from stories that have touched the hearts of men for centuries: stories like The Iliad, Beowulf, and the Arthurian Romances. In this study, you will learn more about The Lord of the Rings, but you will also learn more about the literary elements and influences that made it a masterpiece. In addition, you will learn about the thought processes of an author as he created a work of genius. This is more than just a literature curriculum: it is a journey through Middle-earth. Perhaps, you will even find that this is Literature you'll love! Click here to view customer comments See right sidebar to links for more information

COMMENTS ON THE CURRICULUM FROM CURRENT USERS "Hey! my name is Nikki. I'm fourteen years old, and I'm currently doing your Lord of the Rings study, and I thought I'd let you know that this is the greatest thing ever!!!! I definitely recommend it to everyone out there!!! ********************************************************** "Just wanted to let you know that my son and I used your LOTR curriculum last year (when he was a sophomore) with three other students. It was awesome. I miss having such an enjoyable, interesting and comprehensive program to do this year. But one thing, among others that we learned, was that my son loves to write stories. I would have probably not found that out, except for your book.... KATHY T. ********************************************************** Have you ever had a "godsend curriculum"? One that met and even exceeded your expectations, was totally easy to implement and use, fed and challenged your children without in the least burning you out, one that was a massive blessing to its user, and indeed to your whole family? .... I'll tell you about my "godsend curriculum"!..... This is a GREAT curriculum. I can't even imagine a better way to teach about the rich, wonderful world of literature than using the rich, wonderful, exquisitely-crafted works of Tolkien...... The author's commentaries for each chapter, as well as the unit studies, are in-depth and fascinating. There's even a touch of humor....This has been the best thing about our school year. I am so thankful that even while my hands are full, my son is getting challenged and fed with a very rich feast indeed. Thank you Amelia Harper for producing this curriculum!--- ANGELA N. ********************************************************** I want to tell you again how very much I have appreciated this curriculum. It has been wonderful and my son has loved it. It is probably one of the best things I have used in 17 years of homeschooling... SANDY Y. **********************************************************
Just wanted you to know we received our order today and we are just tickled!
**********************************************************
My
daughter, Sarah, is in Middle Earth Heaven. I ordered the books on the 4th of
July and today the 8th they are here. She wants to start school NOW. I haven't
even opened my book yet. She in half an hour was already into lesson
one....how can I hold her back. My husband said let her go....in July....?
As
per my daughter, she wants you to do another study for her next years school
year! It's not been about 1 hour and I had to let you know how totally happy
she is!!!!!!---- ROXANNE
********************************************************** We received the curriculum today and it looks wonderful. My son said this is the first time he has ever been excited about school! Thank you so much,---- LISA *********************************************************** "Amelia , I really admire the work you did in creating the 'Literary Lessons from the Lord of the Rings.' I may never get the chance to complete the curriculum personally, but I'd like to. Keep up the great work! Sean" From Sean Astin (Sam in the Lord of the Rings movies) |
